Personal Guidance,

Lasting Growth

Every teen deserves a champion. Our 1-on-1 Mentorship pairs Jewish high-school students with dedicated role models who nurture confidence, Jewish pride, and real-world skills through all three phases of their journey.

Why Individual Mentorship Matters

1
Stronger Identity
95% of participants leave YAM proud of their heritage and ready to lead.
2
Academic & Emotional Lift
Teens with mentors report higher grades, lower anxiety, and a clear sense of purpose.
3
Safe Haven
Weekly check-ins create a judgment-free space where teens can process challenges, ask big questions, and grow.

  • Every teen begins by completing a quick interest and strengths survey, telling us what sparks their curiosity and where they want to grow. Our staff reviews each profile, then pairs the teen with a trained volunteer mentor whose passions and values line up with theirs. This deliberate matching process builds instant rapport and trust, setting the stage for meaningful guidance and accountability.

  • Parents receive concise progress snapshots so they can cheer on their teen and reinforce growth at home. Mentors collaborate with YAM staff, therapists, and tutors when specialized support is needed, ensuring each teen’s circle of care is aligned and responsive.

  • Mentor and mentee meet for a focused 45-minute session each week, either in person or over video. Together they review wins, challenges, and set fresh goals around academics, Jewish learning, leadership, and life skills. Consistent check-ins keep momentum high and provide a safe space to celebrate progress or troubleshoot obstacles.

  • Every three months the duo steps out of their routine to share a deeper experience, whether a leadership retreat, local service project, or Shabbat dinner with peers. These moments strengthen the bond, expose teens to real-world impact, and weave their personal growth into a larger Jewish community narrative.
